eManufacturing - What is it ?
Return to Technical Expertise Center Home

The term eManufacturing has emerged since early 2000 and is now a very commonly heard term.  The term is defined as:

"A responsive manufacturing model that optimizes the use of production assets based on information exchange from shop floor operations, across the enterprise and the extended supply chain."

From Software Toolbox's perspective, a key part of any eManufacturing strategy must be connecting to shop floor control and information systems. Software Toolbox clients know that we are a leader in connectivity software for the myriad of shop floor devices, each using their own means of communications.

To aid our existing and new users in learning more about the broader picture of eManufacturing, we have worked with Unifi Technology Group, a leading eManufacturing consultancy, to bring you a whitepaper that discusses building the infrastructure for eManufacturing.

Executive Summary Whitepaper: Building the Infrastructure for eManufacturing - ( PDF - 500 Kb ) - This paper takes the reader through the definition of eManufacturing, the building blocks, provides a roadmap for building infrastructure, a discussion of building infrastructure for collaboration, and the financial benefits of eManufacturing. For a printed copy of this whitepaper, please send us an email with your full mailing address and ask for our eManufacturing whitepaper.
